Our medical center is an acute-care facility that is part of the University of Maryland Medical System. It's our mission to provide the highest quality healthcare services to the communities we serve.

BWMC services and centers of excellence include the Aiello Breast Center, Tate Cancer Center, Maryland Vascular Center, PET/CT technology, emergency care, pediatric care, psychiatric care, Joint Replacement Center, Spine and Pain Center, Wound Healing Center, Joslin Diabetes Center, cardiology and cardiac rehabilitation services, endoscopy services and geriatric services. BWMC is also a Primary Stroke Center.

In March 2007, BWMC was named a Thomson Reuters 100 Top Hospitals. BWMC was the only hospital in Maryland and the District of Columbia to receive this award, which recognizes hospitals that have achieved excellence in clinical outcomes, patient safety, financial performance, efficiency and growth in patient volume.

BWMC is a 311-bed community hospital.
BWMC sees about 19,000 inpatients a year, and the Emergency Department sees more than 95,000 patients a year.
BWMC has more than 2,600 employees, and more than 600 physicians have privileges here.
BWMC opened in 1965 and has continuously grown over the years, becoming one of the largest and best-equipped medical centers in the state.
In 2000, BWMC became part of the University of Maryland Medical System - a nationally recognized academic medical center that includes some of the most advanced clinical services available anywhere.
In 2006, a $117 million expansion project began that opened in January 2009 bringing a new 111 - bed patient care building, a new women's health center with obstetrics to open in Fall 2009 and an expanded emergency department that opened in Summer 2008.
In 2009, BWMC opened BWMC Health Services at Arundel Mills, a multi-specialty office building that brings physicians, specialists and support care to western Anne Arundel County.
