Speech-Language Pathology
Speech-language pathology is the evaluation and treatment of disorders of speech, voice, language, cognition, and swallowing. As part of the therapeutic program, speech-language pathologists educate and counsel people on the impact of and strategies for managing communication and swallowing disorders.
Services offered for adults with:
- Dysphagia (swallowing disorders)-- instrumental diagnosis by videofluoroscopy with modified barium swallow.
- Aphasia (language disorders).
- Oral-motor dysfunction.
- Dysarthria (speech disorders).
- Voice disorders.
- Cognitive-linguistic impairments.
- Head and neck cancer (i.e. laryngectomy).
- Swallow evaluation after surgery or radiation.
- Alternative communication techniques and devices.
The Department of Rehabilitation Services is pleased to announce the addition of pediatric speech/language evaluation and therapy services. Services may be provided for the following problems:
- Articulation (difficulty producing specific sounds/words)
- Language (limited vocabulary, difficulty understanding questions, delayed speech)
- Fluency (stuttering).

Fees and Insurance
We participate with most insurance carriers. As a courtesy, insurance benefits are pre-authorized so that patients will understand benefit limitations and/or any financial obligations they may incur.
