The center is another step in the hospital's growing commitment to women's healthcare, focusing on cancer prevention and early detection, identification of benign disease, diagnosis of breast cancer, cancer therapy and support services.

Dr. Cynthia Drogula, who specializes in breast procedures, leads the center as its medical director. Dr. Drogula is an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She received her medical degree from George Washington University and completed a residency in general surgery at George Washington University Medical Center and affiliated hospitals.

The center is located at 203 Hospital Drive in the Aiello Center on BWMC's campus.

As part of its all-encompassing care, the center features a multi-disciplinary approach with a specific point of entry into the program and ongoing coordination through all phases of screening, diagnosis and treatment.

It also offers:

• A highly-skilled and experienced breast surgeon.
• Screening services, including mammography and genetic counseling.
• A dedicated nurse coordinator who guides patients through every aspect of their care, including physician appointments, testing and all support services
• Comprehensive diagnostic services, including mammography, ultrasound, breast MRI, breast MRI biopsy, stereotactic biopsy and sentinel node biopsy.
• Board certified physicians who are specialists in the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease.
• Education and outreach services targeting breast disease.

The Aiello Breast Center is named after Joe and Doris Aiello, who pledged $1 million toward the center's development.
