The 6th Floor is a 26-bed unit composed of all private rooms. We serve three distinct populations – oncology, urology, and women’s care. The combination of these patient populations enables our nurses to overlap related fields and provide expert care to the community we serve. The delivery of care to our patients is provided by dedicated nurses who value commitment and quality that is reflected in numerous letters of appreciation and positive feedback from our patients. Patient education is valued as highly as employee education. Med/Surg and oncology certification and re-certification are strongly supported and funded by the hospital. Nurses seeking specialization in oncology have the opportunity to attend a seven-week program on cancer nursing and chemotherapy administration that is also funded by Baltimore Washington Medical Center. Orientation is also individualized to meet the needs of the employee. The sixth floor nurtures its staff in a supportive environment that facilitates success in nursing.
