Renal/Specialty Care Unit/Telemetry (3rd Floor)

The 3rd Floor is an exciting, fast-paced critical care unit, with 42 telemetry-monitored beds. Patients come to us with a variety of multi-system needs from ages 18 to 100+ years old. As Baltimore Washington’s designated renal unit, we provide both peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis (through a contract with Independent Dialysis Foundation, Inc.) ventilators and cardiac “drips” are also common on our unit. You will utilize all of the skills you were taught in nursing school and still learn something new every day. The best part of your job will be working in a team environment of RNs, Patient Care Technicians and Administrative Technicians who are friendly, caring and professional. To make sure you feel comfortable providing the complex care our patients require, Baltimore Washington Medical Center covers the full cost of a critical care course, as well as ACLS certification for all full and part-time RNs.

Testimonials

Romie Santos, Monitor Technician
“Baltimore Washington Medical Center offers a workplace environment with a family-like atmosphere. My fellow associates are friendly, professional and always willing to lend a helping hand. With a job that entails intense observation, monitoring and documentation of lethal dysrhythmias and cardiac events for the types of patients on the floor, the opportunity to also provide the care of these patients with the support of my colleagues and associates who have become my close friends and second family, makes it all worthwhile for me.”

Denise Brocato, RN, C
“I like working at Baltimore Washington Medical Center because it is a clean, friendly, family-oriented community hospital. The nurses work well together, and form a close relationship. Administration has a positive attitude toward the nurses. Our equipment is up-to-date, and our ancillary departments are very pleasant and helpful. The community we serve is growing and North Arundel Hospital is growing to meet the needs of the community. I would recommend Baltimore Washington Medical Centerl to anyone interested in a fulfilling and meaningful nursing career.“

Michelle R. Harris, Patient Care Technician
“When I started at Baltimore Washington Medical Center, I had no previous health care experience. Just a willingness to learn. I was accepted into the Patient Care Assistant program, and was taught the nursing assistant skills that I needed for the job, at no cost to me. In less than two months, after completing my PCS class, I was back in classes at Baltimore Washington Medical Center for the Patient Care Technician program. I was taught additional skills which further increased my responsibilities and pay. I really like working at Baltimore Washington Medical Center because of the educational opportunities, which allow advancements in my career and because of the support of fellow staff members.”
