Awards and Recognitions
November 2006: Baltimore Washington Medical Center ranks in the top 16 percent of 200 hospitals nationwide for its quality of care in five areas: pneumonia, total hip replacement, ischemic stroke, heart failure and medically managed myocardial infarction/heart attack. The ranking allows BWMC to receive the "CareScience Select Practive Customer Quality Leaders Award" - a quality award given by CareScience to member hospitals with outstanding care.
March 2007: Baltimore Washington Medical Center is named one of the nation's 100 Top Hospitals by Solucient, part of Thomson Healthcare, a leading provider of information and solutions to improve the cost and quality of healthcare. BWMC was the only hospital in Maryland and the District of Columbia to receive this award. The award recognizes hospitals that have acheived excellence in clinical outcomes, patient safety, financial performance, efficiency and growth on patient volume.
April 2007: Became a smoke-free campus
May 2007: The Maryland Institute for Emergency Services Systems designates Baltimore Washington Medical Center as a Primary Stroke Center, allowing the medical center to provide life-saving treatment to patients who may have suffered a stroke.
June 2007: The BWI Partnership, Inc. names Baltimore Washington Medical Center the 2007 Employer of the Year for its award-winning contributions as a comprehensive health care provider and for its expanding presence throughout the Baltimore-Washington area.
