The Spine and Pain Center is a collaborative effort on Baltimore Washington Medical Center's extended campus in Northern Anne Arundel County. The center uses minimally invasive techniques and pain management therapies to provide state-of-the-art, comprehensive spine care. Practitioners include spinal surgeons, anesthesiologists, physiatrists, physical therapists and nurse practitioners to coordinate the most advanced and modern treatments currently available.
UnitedHealthcare recently designated Baltimore Washington Medical Center a UnitedHealth PremiumŪ Surgical Spine Specialty Center for 2007 to 2009. The designation means BWMC has met rigorous quality criteria based on nationally recognized medical standards and expert advice.
The center offers:
- A comprehensive approach to care through evaluation and the development of an effective treatment plan including triage to the appropriate first treatment option.
- A multidisciplinary approach that considers all treatment options before a surgical decision is made
- Fellowship-trained and board-certified/board-eligible orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons and specialty-trained pain practitioners
- A dedicated nurse practitioner who coordinates inpatient care and support services
